STELLER BOTANICAL HEALTH:
EXPERIENCE ASIAN BODYWORK THERAPY
Gustavus, Alaska
Jen integrates Acupressure, Thai yoga, Barefoot and Zen Shiatsu, and Reflexology into her own brand of bodywork. Sessions vary according to the needs of the client, from deep pressure and stretching to the calm of holding acupressure points.
Harmonizing the body, mind, and spirit as intertwining elements of health is core to Asian Bodywork Therapy (ABT). Pressure and stretching of meridians and acu-points, bring renewed vitality to the musculoskeletal and organ systems. Acupressure is a healing technique developed in Asia more than 5,000 years ago. Gentle but firm finger pressure on specific points of the body stimulate the body’s innate capacity to heal, while relaxing the body.
Jen may also use external applications of medicinal plants, heat or cold, recommendations of exercise or rest to help give you the tools to restore your health.
Bodywork creates an invitation to relax and release old patterns, while your body receives deeper healing messages via acupressure points and meridians. Herbal remedies tend to work more slowly and over a longer period of time. Blending the two together creates a long term strategy for improving and maintaining health. Jen sees her role as a guide providing support for each client to cultivate increased awareness, vitality, and healing in their lives.
Massage is a very broad term. It is the word we commonly use to generically describe human therapeutic touch. I do not do massage. I have studied Eastern healing traditions extensively, originally as a Clinical Herbalist and later as an Asian Bodywork Therapist. I am fascinated by Oriental Medicine philosophies as they are non-linear. Instead of looking at the body as mechanical equipment, Eastern traditions use the patterns of nature to gain insight into the patterns of our physical, emotional and spiritual strengths and weaknesses. Our western minds are mostly captivated by the physical, and understandably so when in pain, but our bodies are much more complex than cellular material. I want your pain and discomfort to be relieved but rather than just focusing on muscle tissue, I am concerned with the total health of your being.
I strongly believe in raising awareness for the diverse professions of healing touch!
